Princess Cruises Opens a Denali Treehouse

February 25, 2018

Have you ever caught an episode of the Animal Planet television series, Treehouse Masters?  It’s been on for quite a few years and it’s a pretty cool show! It follows designer / builder Pete Nelson and his crew, as they travel around the country building tree houses! Amazing, incredible tree houses that are built for kids, for family homes, and even as retreats. And more recently, Princess Cruises, in association with the line’s partnership with Discovery Communications, had the crew create a custom designed wilderness treehouse located at Alaska's Mt. McKinley Princess Wilderness Lodge!

As one of the highest land-based north-facing viewing areas, the treehouse provides Princess guests a one-of-a-kind experience to see the south face of Denali from atop the trees and is powered by solar panels. At approximately 500 square feet, guests can access the treehouse by hiking the short “hill trail loop” and be rewarded with the ultimate Denali view.

Princess guests can experience the tree house on pre- and post-cruise stays near Alaska's Denali National Park. Treehouse events for 2018 include:

  • Sappy Hour: Sample unique and rare tree-inspired foods like birch syrups and candies!
  • Princess' Sourdough Expedition: Make your own ascent to the Treehouse as your guide chronicles the first ascent of Denali - hot cocoa and doughnuts complete your very own sourdough expedition!
  • Trivia at the Treehouse: Test your Great Land knowledge with an afternoon of brain-busting fun at Trivia in the Treehouse!

There’s so many reasons why I think everyone should do an Alaska cruisetour, and while this wouldn’t necessarily make that list, if I were on such a trip with Princess Cruises, the tree house is something I’d like to see!
